Apple Braid
Soft-spiced apples fill the inner braid and the cashew-cream drizzle is the literal icing on the cake.
I do love a good apple pastry.
Elbows on the Table is mostly meal based, but we will throw in some beautiful sweets every once in a while.
This one is oh-so-good and very simple to make. Whether you’re making your pastry dough from scratch, or buying it premade at the shop – you can create this at any level of baking.

Apple Braid

Ingredients
- Puff pastry sheet
- 3 medium apples, cored and cubed
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1.5 tbsp cinnamon powder
- 3 tbsp coconut sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees
- Toss your cubed apples into the cinnamon, sugar and lemon juice
- Set aside and prep puff pastry
- Laying the pastry sheet flat, cut diagonal lines towards the center of the pastry – leaving an even center to place your apples
- Repeat on the other side and line up your lines to mirror eachother (as closely as you can, no perfection here)
- When all of your lines are cut to make 1 ½ inch strips, add the apples to the center
- Pull one strip up and over the apples and alternate on each side until you have a criss-cross braid
- You can brush the top with a touch of melted plant butter and or sugar
- After your braid has baked for about 20-25 minutes, it should be ready
- Top with cashew cream drizzle and enjoy!
